Muscat:The Public Prosecution has urged the public to exercise caution and responsibility when expressing opinions, particularly on social media platforms, warning of legal action against content that offends other nations, their leaders or peoples.

In a statement, the Public Prosecution called for greater awareness and wisdom in public statements and actions, stressing the importance of avoiding anything that could harm Oman's relations with other countries.

It urged individuals to refrain from publishing or sharing content that could be considered offensive to nations, their leadership or citizens, or that could negatively affect diplomatic relations.

The Public Prosecution affirmed that it would take all legally prescribed measures against those found violating the law, including through publishing, reposting, participating in or inciting unlawful activities on social media.

It stressed that such actions would be dealt with in accordance with applicable legislation, particularly Articles 20, 23 and 26 of the Law on Combating Cybercrimes.
